Man attempts to nab teenager outside Bellevue mall

Officials are searching for a man who tried to kidnap an 18-year-old woman outside the Crossroads Bellevue mall Saturday afternoon, police said.

The man drove up to the woman at the southeast corner of the mall, in the 15600 block of N.E. Eighth Street, about 2 p.m., according to a Bellevue Police Department news release. He apparently told the woman to get into his car, and when she did not, he got out of the car and attempted to grab her.

After noticing that people were watching, the man allegedly got back in his car and fled, according to the news release.

The woman described the man as a driving a dark green older model Geo four-door hatchback with a Washington license plate. The vehicle has a large dent on the left side of the rear bumper, police said.
