Man shot in South Seattle; injuries not life threatening

A man was shot early Thursday while driving through a South Seattle neighborhood.  According to Seattle Police, he refused a street-racing challenge and was then followed by people in two cars.  Someone in one of the cars, a silver BMW, fired multiple rounds at the victim’s vehicle, police say, striking him in the upper thigh. He was treated at the scene by medics and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident occurred shortly after 2 a.m. as the victim was driving southbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Way. At South Orcas Street, he encountered a group of people attempting to flag him down. Police say he tried to ignore the group attempting to engage him. When he refused to stop, he was followed and shots were fired. The shooting is described as random.
