Metal bristles from barbecue brush turn up in sandwich

A metal bristle — make that three bristles — from an outdoor grill cleaning brush turned up in an Edmonds woman’s breakfast sandwich yesterday, according to a story in The Herald in Everett.

The bristles were spotted before the woman ate the sandwich.

In making the sandwich, her husband had used some drippings from a recent grilling to give more flavor to the sandwich. He believes the bristles may have been in those drippings. He had used a barbecue cleaning brush with metal bristles to clean the grill earlier, according to The Herald story.

A Tacoma man recently underwent emergency surgery after he ate grilled food found to contain a metal bristle from a cleaning brush. He recovered from the incident.
