Morning Memo/Saturday: Weekend traffic … wildfire … Seafair pirates

Weather: Sunny, with a high in the upper 70s. Tomorrow the weather gets even hotter as temperatures break through the 80s. Hard to complain when the Midwest and parts of the East Coast are suffering through a triple-digit heat wave. The National Weather Service forecast

Traffic: Traffic will likely be a nightmare this weekend, with construction closures on Aurora Avenue North, Mercer Street and South Spokane Street (see map at right for closures). The map and cams.

Chelan wildfire: KPQ radio reports the Navarre Fire, burning about 8 miles north of Entiat, grew to 300 acres Friday. Some travel around the area may be restricted. No homes have burned, and only one residence has been evacuated.

Homicide investigation: A Federal Way man was arrested late Friday after his girlfriend was found dead in their home. A neighbor called 911 after the man told him he had stabbed the woman to death.

Pirate landing: The legendary Seafair Pirates arrive at Alki Beach today to kick off Seafair. They’ll come ashore sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Arrrrgh you going to be there?
