Morning Memo/Wednesday: Crow hazmat response … Poll: Sounders … Aww, Mom!

Weather: A bit gray and cool this morning, but it’s going to warm up to the low 70s, we hope. Once again, ignore the chart. Might be some rain tomorrow, but Friday, Saturday and Sunday look to be clear. Yes! Normal weather for Seattle this time of the year. Look at next Tuesday, though, 84 degrees.   The National Weather Service forecast.

Traffic: The map and cams.

Those darn crows. Some crows raised a hazmat alarm yesterday when they found a bag of white powder and dropped it in the middle of a street in Edmonds, according to a story in The Herald in Everett. A jogger saw the bag, picked it up and threw it in a trash bin. Someone else later saw the white power left behind in the street and called authorities, which resulted in a two-alarm hazardous materials response. The powder turned out to be flour. It took an hour to clear the scene.

A mother, a daughter and an election: You have to wonder what the dynamic is between 1st District congressional candidate Laura Ruderman and her mother, Margaret Rothschild. Rothschild created a PAC that paid $115,000 for an ad attacking her daughter’s opponent, Suzan DelBene. Ruderman later denounced the ad, asking voters to look at the positives messages  “about my positions on issues that our campaign is talking about.” Hey mom, thanks, but no thanks?

The Sounders vs. Chelsea: Sounders FC got pounded 7-0 by British powerhouse Manchester United last year, so it got us wondering about the outcome when the Sounders play another top British side, Chelsea tonight before a crowd expected to be 50,000 strong. Do you think the hometown club has a chance at beating the Brits? Take the poll. (Dang it! Thanks to all who pointed out that it wasn’t Chelsea who the Sounders lost 7-0 last year, but Manchester…)
