Rain today, but a dry, although gray, weekend ahead

While Seattleites woke up to a rainy Friday morning, and some commuters are still trying to drip-dry after getting caught in an unusually heavy rainstorm, don’t worry too much about getting soaked at the Bite of Seattle or your friend’s summer wedding in the park.

National Weather Service forecaster Art Gaebel said the weekend will be cloudy, but he doesn’t expect much precipitation.

Saturday’s forecast calls for clouds and drizzle in the morning, with some clearing in the afternoon and highs in the low-70s.

Sunday should be cloudy and “pleasant,” says Gaebel. The high should be in the high-60s.

“It actually should be a pretty good weekend,” said Gaebel. That being said: “You won’t have the hot sun.”

So there you have it: if you don’t like hot sun, the weekend should be perfect.

Gaebel said it usually rains an inch or so in July, and with a dry start to the month, this morning’s rain is just playing catch-up.

“It happens,” he said. “It’s nothing unusually abnormal.”
