A hit and run just before 3 p.m. at 2208 Second Avenue in Seattle wedged a mailman in his 50s between his van and another car, trapping his legs, according to Kyle Moore, a Seattle Fire Department spokesman.
Accident witnesses were able to block the driver, who may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs, long enough for Seattle Police Department officers to apprehend him, according to the department’s online Blotter.
A 17-year-old female witness was also injured by the driver’s black Volvo station wagon, according to SPD. She verbally engaged with the driver, who scraped her hip while trying to get past another witness in a pickup truck that blocked him from fleeing past Second Avenue and Blanchard Street.
The mailman was transferred to Harborview Medical Center with lower body injuries including possible broken bones but is in stable condition, Moore said. The girl was also sent to Harborview Medical Center, according to the Seattle Police Department.
