Suspect stabs himself in standoff with SWAT team

A woman and her four children escaped from a Federal Way house during a standoff early Sunday morning between police and the woman’s husband.

Responding to a 911 hang-up call at 2 a.m., police arrived at 3900 block of S.W. 328th Place and heard a woman screaming inside a residence. A woman then ran out of the house and told officers she had been assaulted and raped by her husband, who was inside with their four children. She said her husband had a knife and threatened to kill himself unless she made police go away.

While police tried to contact the 40-year-old man, all four children were able to flee the house. The children were not injured, according to police.

Just after sunrise, a SWAT team entered the house and found the suspect with two self-inflicted knife wounds to his torso. He did not resist and was taken to Harborview Medical Center with minor injuries. Police are  investigating.
