Spanaway man suspected in ex-wife’s death is found dead in Kirkland

A Spanaway man suspected of murdering his ex-wife last month was found dead today near his mother-in-law’s house in Kirkland, according to the Tacoma News Tribune. Pierce County Sheriff’s detectives believe he committed suicide.

Scott Kagawa’s car was found July 2 with a six-page handwritten suicide note, but his body was not discovered until today when landscapers discovered his remains outside an apartment complex.

After detectives interviewed Kagawa about the murder of his ex-wife Rita Kagawa,  he disappeared. Her body was found June 26 alongside Route 510 near Yelm, Thurston County.

“Once he was charged with homicide, I think he knew that was it,” said Sgt. Ed Troyer, a department spokesman.
