A gunman fired several shots at two pedestrians in South Seattle last night, wounding one of the men in the arm.
Officers responded just after 10 p.m. to a report of a shooting near 42nd Avenue South and South Thistle Street. Detective Mark Jamieson said officers found the injured man, 23, and his friend, 25, who was not hit.
The men said they were walking down Thistle when the shooting began. They didn’t say if they knew the shooter, whether they were targeted or why they were shot at. Witnesses told officers the gunman fired several rounds before running north on 43rd. Five other people, meanwhile, ran off toward Martin Luther King Jr. Way South.
Officers found several shell casings at 43rd and Thistle — and a 9mm handgun around the corner that the gunman apparently dropped as he ran.
The gun will be checked for forensic evidence.
