UPDATE 5:30 P.M.| A Seattle Fire Department investigator determined improperly discarded smoking materials inside the apartment of the deceased woman caused the fire, according to the department’s Fireline blog.
The investigator estimated the fire caused about $50,000 in damage to the apartment building.

A woman was found dead in an apartment fire early Tuesday in West Seattle.
KIRO-TV reports firefighters responding about 2 a.m. found the body near the front door.
Neighbors had been trying to contact the woman but had been no response to their knocking.
The fire was limited to the one apartment. Other residents of the building who were evacuated during the fire have been allowed back inside their apartments.
