Pierce County officials are “99 percent” certain a body recovered from the Puyallup River today is 29-year-old Josh McNamara, who was swept away while floating the river on an inner tube last month. “We’ve notified the family,” said Ed Troyer, spokesman for the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.
The body was spotted this morning by fishermen, near Levee Road and 70th Avenue East in Fife. That’s 11 miles downstream from the spot near Orting where McNamara was last spotted, Troyer said. Pierce County Search and Rescue and Fife police helped pull the body out of the water.
