Boy pulled from Martha Lake

The Associated Press

An 12-year-old Everett boy who apparently was swimming without a life jacket was pulled from Martha Lake at 6:40 p.m. last night after being under water for more than 10 minutes, according to Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton .

When rescue divers pulled him out, he was unconscious. He was taken to Seattle’s Children’s Hospital, said Jerry Sheehan, of Snohomish County Fire District 1.

The Sheriff’s Office says the boy was apparently swimming with friends, whose parents were nearby. A sheriff’s deputy contacted the boy’s mother last night and took her to the hospital.
