Driver sought in fatal hit-and-run in Index

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help as it searches for the hit-and-run driver who killed an Index man and his dog late Saturday night.

The victim, 47, was walking east with his dog in the 50700 block of Index-Galena Road around 11:15 p.m. when they were struck head-on by a vehicle, according to sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton. The driver fled the scene. The victim was found by a passerby. who called 911.

The victim was taken to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center, where he died.  The dog also died, Ireton said.

The victim has been identified as Stacy Lain Broyles.

Anyone who may have information on the accident or the driver is asked to call Sheriff’s Office’s anonymous tip line at 425-388-3845.
