Parrot stabbed dead with fork, Everett man arrested

A 63-year-old Everett man was arrested over the weekend after a fight with his girlfriend resulted in him apparently killing the woman’s parrot with a serving fork.

The man’s girlfriend called police on Sunday after saying that she returned home from the store to find her home trashed and her pet bird dead. The woman told investigators that before leaving for the store that night her boyfriend had grown “quiet” after she told him that they had been invited to a friend’s house for dinner, according to a police report.

When officers entered the home they found blood stains in several rooms, the slain parrot, a bloody serving fork and the suspect asleep in the basement. Mirrors, furniture, a DVD player and other items were broken, as well, police said.

The man was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of second-degree malicious mischief, domestic-violence, and first-degree animal cruelty.
