The King County Sheriff’s Office said there was a fatal shooting in Burien this afternoon on the 14000 block of 8th Avenue South. The shooting suspect turned himself in to law enforcement shortly after, according to Sgt. Cindi West.

The shooting took place at about 5:45 p.m. at a home of a mother and her two teenage children, a boy 16, and a girl, 14. The girl had just arrived home in a taxi driven by a friend of her mother’s, West said.

The shooting victim was the driver of that cab. West said the girl had just exited the cab when her father pulled up in a green Mustang.

The father allegedly opened fire and fatally shot the cab driver. A neighbor across the street, Brena McNulty, said she heard several shots.

The cab driver was pronounced dead at the scene, West said.

Less than 10 minutes after the shooting, the father was dropped off at the Burien Police Station, where he turned himself in, West said.

The teens’ parents have been divorced for about eight years, West said, and there is no known history of domestic violence.
