Morning Memo/Friday: He crashes, he dances … Junk mail threat … Hope Solo rules

Weather:  Nice today, and  the weekend is shaping up to be even better with temperatures in the upper 70s, lots of sun and no rain, drizzle or the like in sight. Enjoy, but be careful if you’re going to go out swimming in lakes and rivers. The National Weather Service forecast.

Traffic: Starting tonight with the closure of the 520 bridge, the weekend traffic is going to test your patience, so think ahead, plan your trip and give yourself plenty of time to get to where you’re going. The map and cams.

He crashes car, starts dancing: A man who witnesses say ran a stop sign and T-boned another car in Spokane last night got out of his wrecked car and started dancing. Cops arrested him. Why he decided to become twinkle toes is still being investigated. The driver of the other car suffered minor injuries. The Spokesman Review has the story.

The man who pleaded guilty to killing Michael Wang in July last year as he was riding his bicycle home from Seattle to Shoreline is scheduled to be sentenced in King County Superior Court today. It was a hit-and-run, and almost a year passed before police found Erlin Garcia-Reyes and arrested him in connection with the crash at Dexter Avenue North and Thomas Street in Seattle.

Outspoken Hope Solo, formerly of the UW and a Richland, Wash., native, was superb in the U.S. women’s 2-1 victory over Japan in the Olympic soccer finals yesterday in London. As teammate Abby Wambach said in an interview with The Associated Press,  “You can’t go without saying that Hope saved the day. Literally. Five times.”

There’s hating junk mail and then there’s REALLY hating junk mail: A Vancouver, Wash., man has been busted for allegedly sending threatening emails to state Senate candidate Eileen Qutub because he didn’t want to get her election fliers in the mail. In one email, the person said he doesn’t know how Qutub got his name and address and that he’d rather “put a bullet in her ‘stupid pathetic’ Republican brain than vote for her.” The Columbian in Vancouver has the story.
