Weather: A bit warmer today and a good deal warmer tomorrow with a forecast high of 76 degrees and clear skies. Sunday’s predicted high isn’t too shabby at 73 degrees. But then we’re into the mid-60s next week, with drizzle possible Monday. Drizzle? Really? The National Weather Service forecast.
Traffic: The map and cams.
Man accidentally shoots self with mole trap: A Randle man was fussing with a trap to get rid of some pesky moles when the 12-gauge shotgun that was part of the contraption went off and hit him in the knee. Didn’t know some mole traps had shotgun parts… Homemade? The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he underwent surgery. The Chronicle in Centralia has the story.
A final resting place for Ivan the gorilla: A pet cemetery located in University Place in Pierce County could be the final home for Ivan the gorilla, who died Monday at the Atlanta zoo. The president of New Tacoma Cemeteries offered the space to the zoo for free, according to a story in The News Tribune in Tacoma. Ivan, who lived to be 48-50 years old, spent 27 years on display in a south Tacoma shopping center, but spent the past 18 years at Zoo Atlanta.
Rock through Seattle police station window: A man says he threw a big rock through the glass doors of the North Precinct last night so that he would get arrested and sent back to Guatemala. Well, that’s one way to do it. (Oh, he was arrested. Immigration status unknown.)
Not the first time he was shot? There was an interesting tidbit in the story about the shooting in the Central District last night. A shop owner nearby said he was told by the victim a while back that he’d been shot once before. Seriously? The victim was last reported in critical condition, although TV reports that he is expected to survive.
