Pricey muscle cars recovered in Pierce County

Two pricey muscle cars stolen from a Puyallup-area warehouse last week have been recovered, according to the Tacoma News Tribune.

Deputies found the 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray this morning in the Gem Heights area of South Hill, Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer tells the newspaper. A 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle was recovered a few days ago in Tacoma, Troyer said.

Tips from people who saw media accounts of the thefts led to their recovery, Troyer said.

The cars are being checked for fingerprints and other clues but no arrests had been made as of Friday afternoon, the News Tribune says. Troyer said detectives have some leads.

The cars, each valued at more than $150,000, were stolen late Aug. 8 or early Aug. 9.
