UPDATE AT 7:14 P.M.: At about 6:45 p.m., the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Unit and Gold Bar and Monroe fire departments rescued a man and woman and three children who had become stranded on a gravel bar in the Skykomish River between Monroe and Sultan.
The group had been floating down the river when one of the children fell off an inner tube and the man went into the water to help the child. The man injured his foot on the river bottom in the process.
A fire unit tried to rescue the five people, but a search-and-rescue helicopter had to be called in to make the rescue.
The man was treated by aid units at the scene and the woman and three children were returned to a nearby park.
ORIGINAL POST: The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Unit and members of the Monroe Fire Department are helping two adults and three children reportedly stranded on a gravel bar in the Skykomish River between Monroe and Sultan, the Sheriff’s Office reports.
The victims are not considered to be in serious danger, but all are dehydrated and one of the adults may have a foot injury.
