Seattle libraries closed all week

Just a reminder: The Seattle Public Library system is taking an early Labor Day break.

Citing city budget cuts, all city library branches and the main downtown library will be closed this week and through Labor Day, Sept. 3. That also means limited access to the library’s online services — users can search the catalog or check their accounts, for example, but not place items on hold or email librarians.

No borrowed items will be due during the closure and no overdue fines will be charged — which is just as well, since the book drops won’t be open and the library has sternly warned patrons that they’ll be responsible for any items left outside.
