Seattle woman airlifted from Aasgard Pass near Leavenworth

The Wenatchee World

A 53-year-old woman suffered a deep head laceration late Saturday morning when she fell at the bottom of Aasgard Pass in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness southwest of Leavenworth.

Nora McCormack of Seattle fell while crossing a boulder field at the bottom of Colchuck Glacier, said Sgt. Kent Sisson with the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office.

Other hikers contacted a wilderness ranger shortly before noon and a Chelan County helicopter was called in to drop off a sheriff’s deputy, and a Cascade Ambulance medic.

She was stabilized at the scene until a winch-capable helicopter from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office could carry her out. She was transported to Central Washington Hospital where she was treated and released.
