Washington state last year saw its lowest number of traffic fatalities since 1954, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
Traffic collisions killed 458 people in Washington state in 2011, a number the WSDOT Facebook page says is still “far too many. Let’s work together to get that number to zero.”
Collision statistics for 2011 also showed that 97.5 percent of drivers wore seat belts. WSDOT will be releasing a fuller report on collision statistics soon.
