Supplies are being sought for some 200 evacuated livestock, including more than 100 horses, temporarily housed at the Kittitas County Fairgrounds at Ellensburg.
“There was a steady stream all night, and more this morning,” said Sarah Maes, program assistant for the county fair.
Evacuated horses need buckets, flyspray, feed, lead ropes and harnesses.
Some people brought their animals as a precaution, but at least one woman who brought her animals to the site learned later her home had been destroyed.
Maes said she has heard that some of the houses destroyed are vacation homes, but that more are year-round homes.
In addition to horses, people have been dropping off alpacas, donkeys, goats, mules and other farm animals, Maes said.
The fairgrounds are not set up to care for dogs and cats, she said. People who want to donate supplies for evacuated pets should call the fair offices at 509-962-7639.
