8-mile backup reported near Cle Elum

Traffic on the last day of Labor Day weekend is always heavy, but motorists on Interstate 90 near Cle Elum are in for a tough time.

The state Department of Transportation (DOT) reports an accident earlier today and heavy traffic volumes are causing an eight-mile backup on westbound I-90 near Cle Elum. The backup is expected to add about 45 minutes to travel times, the DOT says.

In addition, the State Patrol says motorists can expect heavy traffic on Interstate 5.
