UPDATE 5:05 P.M.| All 38 children and a driver have been taken off the bus safely and boarded onto another Auburn School District bus to be taken home, according to Valley Regional Fire Authority.
The children attend Arthur Jacobsen Elementary School and range from kindergartners to 5th graders.
A school bus crashed into a power pole and downed nearby power lines this afternoon just after leaving Arthur Jacobsen Elementary School at 29205 123 Ave. S.E., according to Valley Regional Fire Authority.
No injuries were reported from the 3:56 p.m. crash, but 38 children and a driver on board the bus are being held inside until emergency responders are sure power lines touching the bus aren’t live, said Valley Regional Fire spokeswoman Kimberly McDonald. Fire officials are asking that parents do not drive to the crash scene.
While Puget Sound Energy responds to the downed powerlines, 132 Avenue Southeast will be closed in both directions in front of Auburn Mountainview High School, according to the Auburn Police Department. Police are still investigating what caused the crash.
