Coast Guard transports injured boater from San Juans

A woman injured in a fall Monday on a recreational vessel in the northern San Juan Islands was taken by Coast Guard boat to an ambulance on shore.

The Coast Guard received a request for assistance from the vessel Siesta at about 1:30 p.m., indicating a 60-year-old woman had fallen and hit her head, suffering a severe gash to her forehead. A 45-foot Coast Guard response boat already on routine patrol in the area was sent to pick up the injured woman.

The crew took the woman to an aid car in Blaine.

The woman was reported to be in stable condition, the Coast Guard said.
