A 69-year-old man and his teenage grandson were killed this morning when they were trapped in a burning home near Kent.

The fire was reported at about 4 a.m. in the 3900 block of South 238th Street. The first fire crews to arrive found the home fully enguled in flames.

Two people who were in the front yard said they managed to escaped the flames, but indicated two other people were trapped inside, according to Don Barberie, deputy fire marshal for the Kent Fire Department. Fire crews tried to get inside, but were driven back by the flames and smoke, he said.

After the fire was extinguished the bodies of the two men, including a 19-year-old, were located inside, Barberie said.  Two firefighters suffered minor injuries.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known. Neighbors reported hearing an explosion before the home erupted in flames.
