Man shot Friday night dies of injuries

Seattle police have opened a homicide investigation into the death of a man in his early 40’s who was shot several times while stopped at a red light in Lake City on Friday night.

The man died later at Harborview Medical Center, making his death the 23rd homicide in Seattle this year. That’s more than in all of 2011.

Witnesses told police they saw a silver or gray BMW convertible pull up next to the victim’s car and fire multiple rounds, striking the victim several times. Police are looking for the suspect, who is described as a white male in his late 20’s to 30’s with dark hair.

The shooting took place at the intersection of 15th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 75th Street at around 7:26 p.m, according to the police department’s blog.

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting or who may know the identity or whereabouts of the suspect or his vehicle should call 911 or the Seattle Police Homicide Tip Line at (206) 233-5000. Anonymous tips are welcome.
