Man shot by Kirkland police officer: Police say the man drove an SUV directly at the officer and the officer fired, according to the story by KING5. It all began when police heard a woman screaming at a motel and investigated.
Boy lifted from mountain peak by chopper: The 10-year-old boy fell ill while climbing with his father and another man near Mount Stuart in the Central Cascades, and he couldn’t get down on his own. It was too dangerous for a rescue on the ground due to darkness, so a helicopter was brought in to pluck the boy to safety.
“Dine and dash”: A couple in Bellingham dined at a restaurant up there but left without paying. A couple of employees confronted them outside, but the man pulled a knife with a huge blade, and that put an end to that. However, one of the employees got into a car and followed the couple. Despite police getting involved, the couple got away.
Ricotta cheese recalled in our area: Ricotta Salata Frescolina brand cheese might be contaminated with listeria bacteria, so an Auburn company is recalling it. The company says the supplier, Forever Cheese of Long Island City, N.Y. sold the cheese to distributors, retailers and restaurants in Washington and Oregon between July 17 and Sept. 10. The cheese is cut into 7-ounce pieces, with manufacturer codes 7022, 7212, 7272 and 7432.
