Morning Memo/Tuesday: Wrong-way driver hits trooper … Seahawks … Kids in trunk

Weather: Is this glorious fall weather or what? Upper 60s (maybe low 70s tomorrow), sunshine and best of all, no rain. It’s a bit cloudy and chilly in the morning, but, hey, that’s why they make jackets. Enjoy. National Weather Service forecast.

Traffic: The map and cams.

Wrong-way driver hits trooper’s car: The driver was going against traffic on SR 520 in Seattle, hit a State Patrol car and drove on until he was stopped on I-5 in the U District. The trooper was unhurt.

Woman struck by car and killed: She was walking along a road when she was killed near Arlington overnight. The 23-year-old woman had been involved in an earlier accident when she was struck.

Garbage hauler settlement: Just how much Waste Management will be paying the city for missing eight days of collection during the strike will be announced this morning. You remember the strike, yes?

That pass in the Seahawks game: At the risk of driving fans crazy, we have to ask: Who caught the ball that gave the Seahawks the last-minute win against the Packers?

The “What were they thinking?” story of the day: A couple were driving around with three kids and a dog stuffed into the trunk of their car. Oh, the couple had drugs in their car, too. The couple’s in jail. The kids are in protective custody.
