Morning Memo/Wednesday: Sniper ID’d … Poll: 1st day of school … Wrong turn

Weather: Sunny and clear, temperatures in the mid- to upper 70s. We couldn’t ask for more. It will get cooler as the weekend approaches, though. Enjoy the warmth while you can. It is September, you know. The National Weather Service forecast.

Traffic: Be extra careful today as Seattle schools and many others in the area begin the new year. Many buses and children will be out there. The map and cams.

Former Bible camp counselor was sentenced in child rape case: The 46-year-old Vancouver counselor was hit with 35 years in prison for sexually abusing two children he knew through church. He’s also serving 25 years for producing child pornography.

Oops. Wrong turn: A woman in Kelso pulled out of an apartment complex the other day and slid down a 100-foot hill. It appears she’ll be OK.

Sniper identified: The sniper who wounded a man and shot up several vehicles in rural Snohomish County Sunday has been identified Robert Endrizzi, 60, formerly of Kent.

First day of school poll: As we said earlier, Seattle schools open for business today. Did you look forward to the first day of school at any point in your young life, or did you simply dread it? Take our poll.
