Name of alleged Green Lake attacker still unknown

His name is still unknown, but the the man who allegedly attacked two people and then stripped naked and spent more than two hours swimming away from Seattle police in Green Lake on Tuesday afternoon was charged today with one count of second-degree assault, two counts of fourth-degree assault and resisting arrest.

The man is being held without bail in King County Jail for the alleged unprovoked attack on a teenage brother and sister in a Green Lake Park walkway near Ashworth Avenue North. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Sept. 17.

The mystery man charged at the two like a linebacker knocking them to the sidewalk, according to one witness. The brother, 19, suffered a broken pinkie finger, a busted lip and a scraped knee. His 16-year-old sister had scrapes to her arms and legs, court documents say.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, the man then stripped naked and swam in Green Lake in an attempt to evade police. During the more than two-hour effort to take him into custody, police say the man twice slapped one officer across the face, wrestled with another, raised large rocks over his head and threw them and used a large stick to fight off officers.

Prosecutors say the man has not given his real name.
