A 12-year-old girl was bitten by a dog in Seattle’s South Park neighborhood yesterday afternoon and an officer who responded to the call shot and wounded the dog.
The dog, reportedly a pit bull-lab mix, attacked the girl near 10th Avenue South and South Henderson Street shortly after 3:30 pm., say Seattle police.
Officers found two dogs roaming the area. They had apparently gotten loose from a yard in the neighborhood.
One dog charged one of the officers who pulled out his gun and shot the dog, wounding it.
The injured dog was taken to the Seattle Animal Shelter. The other dog was captured, too.
The dogs’ owner showed up and was given a citation, police said.
The girl was treated at the scene by Seattle Fire Department medics.
