A passerby spotted the body along a fence at the Scott Road off-ramp to Interstate 5 about 6 p.m. and called authorities, Burbank Police Sgt. Darin Ryburn tells the Los Angeles Times. He was identified as Clifford Morris of Richland, Ryburn said. Morris was a pilot for Horizon and Alaska Airlines. Detectives are waiting on coroner’s officials to determine a cause of death, according to the Times. There were no obvious signs of injury and no evidence Morris had been struck by a car. His wallet and identification were also with him, indicating robbery was probably not a motive, the Times reported. “We absolutely don’t know,” Ryburn said. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Captain Morris, who was a highly respected pilot and 26-year veteran at Alaska,” Gary Beck, Alaska Airlines vice president of flight operations said in a released statement. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to Lee’s fiancée and other loved ones. He will be greatly missed by his fellow pilots and all employees at Alaska.” Comments | More in The Blotter | Topics: Alaska Airlines, Burbank, Calif.
