Cattle killed when container falls off truck on I-90

A shipping container filled with cattle fell off of a semi-truck this morning on Interstate 90 in Seattle, killing many of the animals, the State Patrol said.

The accident happened around 8:30 a.m. on eastbound I-90 just east of Rainier Avenue, according to KIRO-TV. The State Patrol says 30 to 40 cows were in the large container and it is estimated that up to half were killed.

The accident blocked the right lane as crews righted the container and worked to load it onto another truck.
