ENTIAT, Chelan County — A wildfire near Entiat may have been started by a father and son shooting at exploding targets.
The Chelan County sheriff’s office says the Forest Service is investigating Sunday’s fire in the Mud Creek area.
The Wenatchee World reports flames spread to 120 acres in about an hour and required 60 firefighters, three engines and a helicopter to control.
Exploding targets violate a burn ban. A spokesman for firefighters, Mick Mueller, says the shooters could be held responsible for the fire suppression costs.
