ID thief who stole from hundreds, including U.S. attorney, gets 4 years prison

A Renton woman who stole money from at least 237 bank accounts, including one belonging to U.S. Attorney Jenny A. Durkan, was sentenced today to four years in prison according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

U.S. District Court Judge Lonny Suko also sentenced Ana M. Crisan, 43, to five years of supervised release and $125,241 in restitution, according to the office.

Crisan used skimming devices, which are inserted into the card reader slot, and pin hole cameras installed on ATM machines to steal bank account information and money for at least a year. Eventually the U.S. Secret Service Electronic Crimes Task Force tracked her down and she was arrested in April.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Washington prosecuted the case because Durkan, of the Western District of Washington Office, was a victim.
