Police seek man who raped 80-year-old woman in Kirkland

Kirkland police are searching for a man who raped an 80-year-old woman in Kirkland last week.

According to police, the woman was walking into her home in the 9500 block of Northeast 128th Street around 11:45 a.m. Thursay when she saw a man “swiftly approaching her.” The woman tried to quickly shut her door on the man, but he pushed it open and shoved her onto the floor. The man put his hand over her mouth and started to choke her.

The woman told police that the man pulled off her clothing and raped her. She said the man told her that he was homeless and had recently gotten out of a four-year relationship. During the sexual assault the woman bit the man on one of his hands, police said.

After the attack the man took off, possibly heading west on Northeast 128th Street, police said.
