UPDATE AT 3:45 P.M.: A judge this afternoon found probable cause to hold the suspect in lieu of $1 million bail. The deadline for filing charges is Thursday.
ORIGINAL POST: Seattle police have arrested a 22-year-old Renton man in connection with the fatal stabbing last week outside a Belltown nightclub.
The victim, Faustino Cervantes, 21, was walking with his girlfriend shortly before 2 a.m. Friday outside of Tia Lou’s on the 2200 block of First Avenue when he became involved in an argument with four men, according to the Seattle Police Department. Before the couple could reach their car a block away, at least one of the men stabbed Cervantes in the abdomen, police said.
Witnesses told police the suspects drove away in a gray truck or SUV.
The homicide is Seattle’s 25th this year, five more than in all of 2011.
Detectives were able to identify one of suspects a day after the incident, and arrested him yesterday morning, police said. Detectives are still looking for other suspects.
Police say they have received video of the suspects filmed by witnesses and are hoping any other witnesses who may have filmed the incident will forward footage to police.
