At least one suspect is at large after two people were shot tonight near Rainier Avenue South and South Hanford Street, according to the Seattle Police Department.
Medics transported the victims, one man and one woman, both 19, to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition, according to the Seattle Fire Department.
The woman’s head and arm were wounded and the man’s arm and leg were wounded. The Fire Department described the victims as “conscious, alert and oriented” on its Twitter page.
Deputy Police chief Nick Metz said the two victims were in a purple car driving eastbound on South Hanford Street at around 7 p.m. when the suspect’s vehicle pulled up in front of them and cut them off.
The suspect fired several shots into the car and then sped away westbound, Metz said.
There was an a police unit close by on another matter when the shooting took place, which meant officers were able to administer first-aid to the victims almost immediately after the shooting, Metz said.
The SPD gang unit is investigating the shooting, he said.
