A 17-year-old boy fell to his death last night during a gathering at an abandoned gravel pit north of Concrete, the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office said.
The Sheriff’s Office received a call at 10:30 p.m. reporting the teen had fallen 50 to 75 feet at the gravel pit in the 6300 block of Baker River Road. Aid crews arrived and found the boy’s body at the base of a cliff leading from the gravel pit to Lake Shannon, the Sheriff’s Office said.
According to Undersheriff Tom Molitor, the death happened during a large gathering at the gravel pit and deputies believe alcohol may have been involved. Investigators believe the death was accidental.
