A Seattle woman who threw a cup of coffee on a Starbucks employee then apparently stabbed herself when confronted by police has been hospitalized this afternoon.
Seattle police say the woman hurled the cup of coffee on the employee at the coffee shop then was chased by a security guard. The security guard called police, who found the woman near 7th Avenue and Stewart Street.
When officers approached the woman, she pulled out a large kitchen knife, according to police.
Officers managed to get the knife away from the woman, but discovered she had a small knife wound to her abdomen. Officers believe she stabbed herself.
A Seattle Fire Department spokesman said the 42-year-old woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.
The Starbucks employee was not hurt, police said.
