UPDATE: Seattle bicyclist critically injured by hit-and-run driver

UPDATE, 6:45 p.m. | The bicyclist remains in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center, according to hospital spokeswoman Susan Gregg.

EARLIER POST | Seattle police are searching for dump truck that allegedly struck bicyclist and left him in critical condition this morning.

The hit-and-run accident happened around 8:30 a.m. at the Interstate 5 onramp at Yale Avenue and Howell Street. The victim, a 49-year-old man, was taken to Harborview Medical Center, according to police.

The Seattle Fire Department is reporting the bicyclist was not wearing a helmet.

Seattle police say the suspect vehicle was a blue, and silver or gray tandem truck that was last seen heading south on I-5.

Witnesses tell police the dump truck made a right-hand turn onto the southbound I-5 on ramp at Yale and Howell. After the truck and trailer passed and continued onto the freeway the victim was found with his bicycle on top of him.

Anyone with information about the truck or the driver is asked to call 911.
