Camas officer dragged by burglary suspect

The Associated Press

CAMAS, Clark County — Camas police say an officer was injured when he was dragged by a burglary suspect driving away.

The officer was treated for a minor hand injury at a Vancouver hospital.

The incident began when a man arriving at a house Monday to do some work encountered the burglar leaving with stolen property.

Officers responded as the suspect was trying to start his car. An officer broke the window and was trying to make an arrest when the car started, rammed a patrol car and drove off, briefly dragging the officer.

The car crashed and the suspect ran off. He was tracked down with a police dog and arrested. The 24-year-old is booked in the Clark County Jail, on burglary, robbery and assault charges.
