UPDATE: Two youths die in South Park crash
UPDATE: 7:30 a.m. | Seattle police say that two youths were killed Sunday night after their car crashed into a pole in Seattle’s South Park neighborhood.
Police spokeswoman Renee Witt said that the victims, one a 16-year-old boy who was driving, were traveling north on 8th Avenue South in a black 1990 Acura Integra when the driver apparently lost control of the car on a curve. The vehicle struck a telephone pole in the 9200 block just after 8 p.m.
The 16-year-old driver died instantly, Witt said. Four other passengers inside the car were taken to Harborview Medical Center. The female passenger died shortly after arriving at the Seattle trauma Center.
The three other passengers remain in critical and or serious condition, Witt said.
Seattle police traffic collision investigators were called to the scene. Police have not yet determined what caused the driver to lose control.
