Pedestrian killed by dump truck in Lower Queen Anne identified
The 88-year-old man killed by a dump truck in Queen Anne Tuesday has been identified as Herbert Whitman by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.
A red 2008 Kenworth dump truck hit Whitman while he was walking near the intersection of Second Avenue West and West Mercer Street, at about 2:46 p.m. according to Seattle police. Medics took him to Harborview Medical Center, where he later died of his injuries.
The truck’s 38-year-old driver was evaluated for signs of impairment due to alcohol or drugs, but police say no impairment was detected.
