Sound Transit working to add more parking near Edmonds Station
Sound Transit says it’s closing in on a deal to add 103 park-and-ride spaces near Edmonds Station by May 1.
Sound Transit would lease property — alongside the Waterfront Antique Mall, 190 Sunset Ave. S. — for five years at $150 per space per month , said spokeswoman Kimberly Reason. Some spaces may open before May 1, she said.
The move is meant to boost ridership on Sounder commuter trains, which have been attracting only 1,125 passengers a day on the line between Everett and Seattle. The existing 156 parking spots at Edmonds Station often fill mid-commute, causing some people to drive to express bus stations or into Seattle.
