State Patrol: Woman jumps off I-5 overpass in Fife

UPDATE AT 1:05 P.M.: The State Patrol now says the person who jumped from the overpass is a woman. We’ve updated the original post to reflect that.

UPDATE AT 12:45 P.M.: A jacknifed semi-truck has been moved to the side of the freeway and northbound traffic is moving again, the State Patrol reports.

ORIGINAL POST: The State Patrol says a woman jumped off the 54th Avenue East overpass onto northbound Interstate 5 in Fife. The person’s condition is not known, but traffic accidents are being reported.

The State Patrol says traffic could be backed up for some time.

The State Patrol said the woman was conscious and will be transported to a local hospital. The extent of her injuries were not immediately known. The State Patrol is also trying to confirm reports that the man jumped from the overpass.
