Woman shoots herself at U. Village

UPDATE 9:00 P.M.| Witnesses told the Seattle Police Department that the woman was in her office by herself with the door closed when she shot herself. When witnesses rushed in to help her, she was slumped over her chair and bleeding from her chest and mouth.

The last update Seattle police received on her condition was that she was in surgery, according to the department’s online blotter.

It is not known yet whether the shot was intentional or not.

A woman in her 60s suffered in what appears to be an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound at University Village shortly after noon today, according to Seattle police.

The woman was being taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and the extent of her injuries wasn’t immediately available.

The shooting occurred in the 4600 block of Village Court Northeast, according to the Seattle Fire Department dispatch log.

Police said it is not yet clear exactly what happened.
